Does TMS Therapy Hurt?

TMS is non-invasive and painless for a majority of patients. In clinical trials, fewer than 5% of people discontinued treatment due to adverse events.

The most common side effect is temporary pain or discomfort at or near the treatment site during therapy that usually resolved within the first week of treatment. Over time, the scalp desensitizes to the tapping sensation of the magnetic coil the discomfort subsides and usually goes away.
